Behaviour Consulting

Helping clients and their canine companions through behaviour problems to make life less stressful for both parties is my favorite part of being a Professional Dog Trainer and Canine Behaviour Consultant. Watching the progress and successes that an owner-dog team conquer and watching a happy pair walk away from a training session makes it worth every minute!

Steps for a consultation:
  1. Contact Melanie for the consultation form to fill out. This is needed to get a complete medical and behaviour history on the dog. It is a very important step in creating a correct treatment plan for your dog.
  2. Your dog is required to have been to a veterinarian to rule out any and all medical issues.
  3. After you send the consultation form to Melanie, she will review the form. Once this is completed, she will contact you to book an appointment.
  4. At the appointment, bring your dog, a recent vaccination certificate and payment for the consultation. The consultation generally takes 2-2.5 hours.
  5. You will go home with a treatment plan and discharge instructions. Your veterinarian will receive a copy of your discharge instructions.
  6. Classes are commonly recommended. They are one of the most important parts of your treatment plan to help with your dog's issues. Most individuals are unsuccessful in carrying out the treatment plan without the classes.
  7. A follow-up appointment is usually recommended after two months, especially if classes are not taken. Melanie provides unlimited email and phone support for your dog during their lifetime if they have had a Behaviour Consultation.
